The Iris Alliance Fund believes that preventing suicide requires investment and commitment from all sectors of a community, working together in a broad-based partnership for change. Our partnerships have promoted action and collaboration among government, nonprofit, philanthropic, and business communities, building upon each sector’s strengths - the trust community-based programs have established with local youth, the resources and influence of grantmakers, the reach of teachers and educators, and the innovation of businesses - to raise awareness and create new strategies. Through partnerships, the Iris Alliance Fund has been able to increase existing suicide prevention capacity by providing information, resources, and forums for discussion focused on special populations, particularly underserved ethnic minorities, women, and girls. Simultaneously, the Iris Alliance Fund has brought the voices of a number of local and national stakeholders to the mental health field for the first time.
