Alliance Fund Board of Advisor Member, Dr. Steven Mayberg, is Appointed to the President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health
Last Friday, President Bush announced his intention to appoint Dr. Stephen Mayberg to the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health. Dr. Mayberg is director of the California Department of Mental Health, where he has implemented an ambitious agenda for an accessible and comprehensive mental health managed care system. A dedicated clinician and renown leader in the field, Dr. Mayberg is also a member of the National Board of Advisors for the Alliance Fund.
“We are proud to congratulate Dr. Mayberg on his incredible leadership and outstanding achievements,” said Mary Chung, president of the Iris Alliance Fund. “Dr. Mayberg has been leading the way in California to improve mental health care services, and will be tremendous contributor to the work of the Commission."
The New Freedom Commission was created in April 2002 by President Bush to conduct a comprehensive study of the United States mental health service delivery system, including both the private and public sector providers, and to advise the President on methods of improving the system.
